Sunday in Darkhan
Sunday, November 2, 2008 Sunday began with a bang... four kids with all the energy God gave them exploding into the new day. I love it. (If we could bottle that energy we could solve the crude oil crisis.)
Church here begins at 2:00 PM so this was the laziest Sunday morning I've spent since Maui a few years ago. Ps Hetee ironed my clothes while Melanie made breakfast. I lounged. This is the life.
Church was all that it is supposed to be in the body of Christ. Lovely people gathering together, praying for one another, singing praise to God, preaching from the Word, freedom for the Spirit to move, people coming forward to receive Christ as their Savior, and the presence of God ministering to everyone. Before I was asked to teach the Lord told me to have the drummer worship in the Spirit for about three or four minutes. The worship team had been dismissed so I had them find the drummer who eventually returned. He had obviously been running so I told him to catch his breath and then play in the Spirit. He had never done this before and the congregation had never seen such a thing before.
He was excited but nervous but he started to play and then he just took off. As he did you could feel the presence of God begin to break something in the heavenlies. Then, just over the sound of the drums, I could Ps Hetee prophesying with ever increasing volume. I motioned for Melanie to translate for me and he was on fire.
Then I sensed the people realizing what was happening and they began speaking out and it was just one of those moments where obedience meets release and everyone knew it.
I began to preach on the kingdom of God with many references to Ghengis Khan and his leadership as king and then Jesus as King of the universe and our king. At the end I prayed and turned the microphone over to Ps Hetee for an altar call. I slowing walked to the back of the room holding back tears of joy as many, many Mongolians came forward to receive the King of kings as their Lord.
At the same time I sensed the Holy Spirit telling me that a well had been released and life and liberty were once again flowing with power and grace. Melanie told me later she knew that something had broken and it was evident in the room and on the faces of the people. To God be the glory!
After church we went to the Empire restaraunt and I have another great steak. Things are changing here food-wise. Many new places to eat; they're clean and the food is really delicious.
Melanie told me that three couples were going to drop by later for fellowship. One of the couples was the couple that lost their baby boy to the fall off the balcony. God has really done a marvelous work at healing them and they were so grateful to our church for helping them find a new apartment after they buried their baby boy. They have a little daughter that is a delight and a comfort to them as they heal.
The couples wanted to hear a bit about my story and my family and then it was talk about the internet, web sites, video cameras, helping them with electronic gear, etc. After they left we watching CSI: Las Vegas as I tried to stay awake a little while longer. At midnight it was off to bed.
Here are a few pictures. The video will have to wait until I have a faster connection:
